Dentists in Northwest Mecklenburg: Where did they go?
Dentists in Northwest Mecklenburg: Where did they go?
Dental care in rural Northwest Mecklenburg is in an alarming state! In the small communities such as Carlow, Gadebusch and Brüsewitz there is only a handful of dental practices - just four! And the situation will soon become more tight: a practice in Rehna closes on November 1, 2024. The fear of not finding a dentist is tangible here!
Dentists are missing-the numbers speak volumes!
The Association of Statutory Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (KZV-MV) analyzed the situation and comes to a terrifying result: 48 dentists take care of over 116,000 patients! This means that a dentist is responsible for more than 2500 people. A dramatic mismatch! According to KZV-MV, 25 dentists are missing in the Northwest Mecklenburg district if the numbers are converted to full-time forces. The supply is classified as "not under-care", but that's just a number trick!
The practices in Wismar are overloaded because they have to absorb many patients from the surrounding area. "We need offspring!" A spokeswoman for KZV-MV calls desperately. The situation is unsustainable!
Politics and administration react sluggish
The district administration does not seem to be correctly grasp the dimension of the problem. During a meeting of the district council committee for social, family and health, only an overview of the number of dental practices was given - detailed data is missing! The AfD parliamentary group has put the topic on the agenda under the title "White teeth instead of white spots", but so far without any noteworthy success.
The KZV-MV gives the desperate patients advice: "Ask in 5 to 6 practices in your environment! If that doesn't work, think about looking further away!" A desperate call in a desperate location!
