Rescue service warns: emergency call at sore muscles? That goes too far!

In the district of Northwest Mecklenburg, the emergency services ensure headlines, not because of dramatic emergencies, but because of unnecessary missions. Florian Haug, head of the emergency services, complains that many emergency calls are made from a pure misunderstanding. "We are often called to cases that are not an emergency, such as sore muscles or ingrown toened nails," explains Haug. This means that valuable rescue workers are bound, while real emergencies, such as heart attacks, may not be reached in time. Such false missions are not only a burden on the emergency services, but also endanger the quick action in real emergencies. Nevertheless, Haug appeals to the citizens' personal responsibility and demands that 112 only call when acute help is needed, for example with severe blood loss or similar emergencies.
