New lookout tower in Liepgarten: Citizens help conversion!

In the picturesque Liepgarten (Landkreis Vorpommern-Greifswald), the local recreation zone around the lookout tower is redesigned to offer visitors a more attractive place. The state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has provided 35,000 euros from the citizens' fund to implement this project. 45 fruit trees have already been planted on the property that surrounds the old lookout tower. In addition, eight sports equipment should be added in the course of next year to make the area even more appealing than NDR.de reported.

The historical observation tower on the pharmacist mountain, which used to mark the highest survey between Uecker and Friedländer large meadow, had to be closed due to serious damage and later demolished. The new tower will not only continue the old tradition, but also enrich the landscape, according to the reigning mayor Falk Becker. The planning for the new building is already underway, whereby the municipality will apply for funding. "A renovation of the old tower is not feasible for economic reasons," added Kathleen Fleck, head of the building and regulatory office. The old, dilapidated tower remains closed until the demolition work, which is financed by the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald. This shows that despite the challenges of the new lookout tower, such as nordkurier.de reports.
