The owners of the boat sheds at the Oberbach Neubrandenburger are in front of a shock! From next year you will have to dig deep into your pocket, because the city has exorbitantly increased the lease fees. In addition to the already announced sales tax increase, the lease contracts that were sent on September 5 must be sent back signed by September 30th. For many tenants, this means a doubling of the lease, and that's not all! With the 19 percent sales tax, the increase adds up to 300 euros per year. One tenant expresses himself in horror: "It was clear to all of us that the lease interest would be increased, but not in this completely exaggerated dimension!"

The situation is particularly dramatic for another tenant who has operated a boat shed on a leased water area since 1962. His lease was raised from 90 to 450 euros - an incredible quotation! "Incredible!" he scolds the measure. The tenants agree: there is no equivalent for these horrendous prices! The city lets the bank attachment on the Oberbach deteriorate, and large trees threaten to fall on the boat sheds. Even the broken branch is not eliminated, which further exacerbates the situation.

The city justifies the price increase

The city administration explains that the revision of the lease model is necessary to ensure cost-covering management. "The adjustment was already planned in 2020, but was postponed due to the Corona crisis," it says. But the tenants feel cheated. They suspect that the city wants to pass on the costs of the devastating fires in 2022. Almost 60 boat sheds were destroyed in the three arson attacks, and the damage amounts to around 1.4 million euros. However, the city emphasizes that the increases are not directly related to the fires.

While the city administration assures that the lease contracts were developed in a separate working group, the tenant remains the displeasure. In series 3, where the fire ruins are, the reconstruction of a boat shed is already started, but many questions remain unanswered. The future of the boat sheds on the Oberbach is uncertain, and the tenants are angry with the new conditions that make life difficult for them.
