Belvedere in Neubrandenburg: Historical renovation inspires visitors!
The Belvedere viewpoint in Neubrandenburg shines in new splendor after a comprehensive renovation! After a year of hard work, the scaffolding fell, and the classicist building on the picturesque Tollensesee is visible again. The city has highlighted the impressive change in color on Instagram - the once bright white sight is history!
Historical Reconstruction
The Belvedere was reconstructed true to the original, in the style of the 19th century, as was once built under the regional builder Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel. The restorers pulled every joint by hand, so that the characteristic triangular notches of the historical building were able to return. An authentic appearance was created with cold plaster and lime colors, which now glows in the earth -brown color - a real eye -catcher!
The renovation was urgently necessary, because during the preliminary examination it turned out that the entire building was moistened to the walls. The last basic renovation took place in the 1970s. The construction work on the Belvedere has been completed, but the view over the Tollensesee remains fenced for the time being, as the stairs and open spaces will be redesigned by the end of 2025.
Financing and history
The city has planned a proud 1.3 million euros in the 2024 budget for the renovation. The Belvedere will be 250 years old next year! Originally built as a summer house in 1775, it has been redesigned several times over the years and most recently served as a memorial for the fallen of the First World War. Today, day trippers and wedding companies are attracting equally - a real piece of jewelry on the Tollenesesee!
