Working for asylum seekers in Neubrandenburg: Chance or Candatory?
Working for asylum seekers in Neubrandenburg: Chance or Candatory?
Excitement in Neubrandenburg! The AfD faction has presented a controversial proposal: Asylum seekers should work for only 80 cents per hour! A concept that amazes both German politics and the public. Long overdue work opportunities in asylum accommodations and urban projects could allegedly bring "advantages for both sides" - but the outraged population is as if this is not a form of exploitation.
According to the AfD, asylum seekers should ensure order in their accommodations and thus reduce the operating costs-a proposal that is already anchored in the Asylum Competitive Performance Act. But that's not all: if these job offers are rejected, there are massive money cuts! This is reminiscent of the recent controversy in Thuringia, where similar measures caused an indignation to the storm when the CDU district administrator threatened to oblige asylum seekers to work unpaid. The criticism gushes over: Many believe that this level reduces refugees and force them into exploitative conditions.
Sustainable arguments or forced labor?
The left-green and other critics in Neubrandenburg accuse the AfD of sending out a wrong signal with their approach. The Green City representative Marcel Spittel sees the template the attempt to force asylum seekers to demonstrate their willingness to work. Nevertheless, there are supporting voices: Peter Modemann from the CDU emphasizes that work can also contribute to linguistic integration - but he warns that no forced labor may take place.
Frank Renner, Head of City Planning, also throws a shadow on the plan: Such employment cause costs for personnel and materials that are not to be underestimated. The Mayor of Neubrandenburg Silvio Witt should now identify these work opportunities, and a decision about it is already on the vote on November 13th. The clock ticks and the Neubrandenburgers are excited to see what will become of this explosive topic!
