Great resistance to fire service center in Neustadt-Glewe!

The citizens' initiative against the planned fire service service center (FSZ) in Neustadt-Glewe tried to express their concerns again in the last meeting of the district council Ludwigslust-Parchim. However, the CDU, President Olaf Steinberg, pointed out that the residents' questionnaire was only intended for questions, not for the submission of messages or statements. This quickly made it clear that their views in this form cannot be followed.

The city of Neustadt-Glewe had actively advertised the fire service service center by offering the district a suitable property for sale. This was underpinned by District Administrator Stefan Sternberg (SPD) in his statement. He made it clear that the district council was not the right contact for criticism at the location, since the city council had already voted in an official procedure for this location. This means that the wish of the citizens' initiative to debate the location met with deaf ears. "The decision about the location has been made and is not withdrawn," says Sternberg.

A central point in the discussion was the handling of a lease that was still available for the site. According to Sternberg, however, it is not in the area of responsibility of the district council, but must be clarified by the city council of Neustadt-Glewe. This clear separation of responsibilities illustrates that the protest of the citizens' initiative comes late, especially since the orders for the FSZ have already been pronounced.

In addition, the district administrator made it clear that the district would take over the property "load -free", i.e. without existing payment obligations or other burdens. This should be done as soon as the termination of the lease agreement by the city becomes legally effective. Despite the critical voices on the part of the activists, Sternberg was confident that a harmonious neighborhood between the fire brigade service center and the residents was possible.

His message to the citizens was clear: the fire service service center is being built at the already specified location. Sternberg also announced that future communication and cooperation with the residents in order to discuss any concerns and requirements. This means that it remains to be seen how the citizens' initiative will react to these final statements by the district administrator and whether it can find other ways in the future to make their concerns hear.
