Volksbank Greifswald closes branch: customers have to rethink!

The Volksbank Vorpommern in Greifswald remains closed for about two and a half months. The closure affects the branch on Markt 14, which is closed due to renovation work to modernize and improve customer friendliness. SB technology is also optimized during this time.

Customers of the bank must switch to another branch during the closure, which is about 350 meters away at Steinbeckerstraße 26. There are available to customers both SB service and advice from employees. After the renovation, the employees will return to the branch on the market, which will offer all services related to checking account, financial advice, loans, insurance and building savings after the renovation work.

Merging of banks

The branch is closed in the context of the fusion between the Volksbank Vorpommern in Greifswald and the Pomeranian Volksbank in Stralsund, which took place retrospectively on January 1. This merger leads to the emergence of the second largest cooperative bank in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with a total of 25,000 members. Despite the merger, all 27 branches are retained and the new bank will manage a total of 67,000 checking accounts.

The business area of the merged bank extends from Ribnitz-Damgarten to Ahlbeck in the west and from Putgarten on Rügen to Altthetreptow and Ueckermünde in the north. The decentralized administrative structure remains and there are no changes in the workplaces of the employees planned. The board of directors of the new bank consists of Martin Wangemann, Jens Klingebiel and Ronny Bauch, while Anja Schurich takes on the role of the chairman of the supervisory board.

Nordkurier reported on the details of the closure and the reasons behind it, while Volksbank Vorpommern published the information on the merger and its effects on the members.
