Swinemünde plans pier: Hope for new tourist attraction!

Swinemünde is facing an exciting change! The new city president Joanna Agatowska has big plans: a pier should finally adorn the popular seaside resort, which so far had to do without such an attraction. While other Polish coastal towns benefit from the income of their pier, Swinemünde stays behind. Agatowska, which campaigned in the election campaign for the construction of a pier, is determined to drive this project ahead in this legislative period.

But the discussions about the construction are heated! The city administration is confronted with a tight cash register. An attempt to finance the pier in cooperation with a hotel chain failed. Nevertheless, there are increasingly supporters in the city parliament for the project. The location question remains exciting: two options are up for debate - either at the end of the passage in front of the Hotels Radisson and Hilton or near the main rescue storm, where the dune promenade ends.

Financing of the pier remains uncertain

The financial situation is tense and the city treasury is empty. Barbara Michalska, former Vice President of Swinünde, does not see the failure of the project as a setback. "We don't have to have the same solutions as everyone else," she emphasizes, referring to the advantages of the city, such as the wide beach and the dune promenade. While other places such as Kolberg and Zoppot benefit from their pier - Kolberg achieved over 1.5 million złoty of ticket revenue this season - Swinemünde remains in queue. However, the city administration plans to discuss financing options soon in order to make the dream of the pier.
