In Wolgast, Jane Bothe, the captain of the traditional ship "Weisse Dune", was recently honored with a special award. The tourism association Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania awarded her the badge of honor in gold, the second highest award of the association. Alexander Winter, chairman of the tourism association, gave a worthy setting by praising Jane Bothe as a passionate entrepreneur and networking personality.
Jane Bothe dreamed of steering his own ship as a child. She learned the basics of sailing in her youth in Berlin. After studying art and working as a teacher, the longing for the water and sailing with her husband Detlef, an enthusiastic sailor, became a reality. Together they hire in the Netherlands to professionally learn the craft of sailing.
Jane Bothe lives the profession of inland lifter
In 2011 the Bothes announced their new goal: the purchase of the historical "white dune", a cargo ship over 100 years old. This project not only required a lot of courage, but also extensive restoration work that the couple implemented with passion. Jane Bothe has been taking guests under her white sails since 2007 with traveling around the picturesque waters of Usedom and Rügen, through the Greifswald Bodden, the Stettiner Haff and on the Peenestrom.
The captain offers an experience that goes beyond sailing romance; It creates an atmosphere of deceleration, which is very much appreciated by her guests. In addition, Bothe is intensively involved in the training of young people. She brings young people closer to the job profile of the inland nave and currently has three trainees under their guidance.
With her husband Detlef, who works as a manager and helmsman on the family second ship, the "Twee Gebroeders", the company is steadily developed. The three adult children of the family are also closely integrated into this maritime company and contribute to the anchorage of the family company through their cooperation. For the jury, Jane Bothe is therefore not only a maker who thinks visionary, but also a driving force for regional tourism.
The high award that its allocationwurde understands, she sees as an appreciation that motivates you to continue to implement innovative ideas for promoting tourism in the region. In her opinion, it is important to get others on board to make the beauty of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania region tangible.
