Caspar David Friedrich: The return of the hometown in Greifswald!
After the withdrawal of the famous "Wiesen near Greifswald" from Switzerland, the Pomeranian State Museum is now the next scene where this significant work of romantic painting will be seen. The upcoming special exhibition entitled "Himmatstadt" is the sign of the great artist Caspar David Friedrich, who saw the light of day in Greifswald and spent his childhood.
The exhibition, which begins on October 16, not only includes the "meadows near Greifswald", which are provided from the Hamburg Kunsthalle, but also the work "Greifswald Hafen", which comes from the old National Gallery in Berlin. These two masterpieces will play the central role in the context of Friedrich's homeland, supplemented by work by contemporaries and by the artist Cindy Schmidt, who deals with the local meadows and bogs as well as the childhood of the painter.

Details about the exhibition
The entire event is a tribute to the important German painter, which is known for its romantic landscapes and deep emotional forms of expression. With “Himmatstadt”, Friedrich's relationship with his birthplace is particularly highlighted, which gives visitors the opportunity to better understand the inspiration behind his fantastic works.
Additional information about the exhibition can be found on the museum's website. This number of works that Friedrich has drawn will shine in a new light and present the artist's legacy in an impressive way. The contemporary reference through the use of current artists such as Cindy Schmidt is a great highlight that should strengthen the connection between past and the present.
