Art project of the European School: Remember the past and hope
A new art project initiated by students from the European School of St. Michael uses sound tears to commemorate the moving history of the displaced Carinthian Slovenians after the Second World War. Under the direction of Albert Mesner and in collaboration with the KPTKD Šmihel cultural association, an impressive memorial is being built, which will soon decorate the town center of St. Michael ob Bleiburg. In this context, this year's school musical "Where are you, crowing? - Vrane, Kje Ste?" listed, which addresses grief and hope in a child -friendly manner, as Klick Carinthia reports.
European schools and transnational education
The European School Karlsruhe (ESK) shows itself as an attractive model for multilingual education. Against the background of transnational mobility, an Italian mother reported on how her children are taught at this school while returning to Italy because her husband takes a new position at a European institute. These schools offer a connection between different language areas, with lessons taking place in several languages, including German, English and French. The system also likes other parents who want to settle in Germany because it enables the children to have high quality training with good chances of a recognized high school diploma, according to the information from Tramis.
The model of European schools, originally created for employees of European organizations, now also attracts families who move to Germany from abroad. These schools take into account the children of origin of the children, which strengthens their linguistic development and identity. While the school is free of charge for EU employees, other parents have to pay school fees, which makes it difficult to choose the school for economically weaker families. Nevertheless, it can be said that the demand for this educational concept increases and it represents a necessary option for many internationally mobile families, as tramis emphasizes.
