Customers in Germany: Black Friday discounts have to reach 50%!

Deutschland - The tension increases! Customers in Germany are particularly demanding this year at Black Friday. According to a representative survey by the management consultancy PWC, in which 2,000 people took part, discounts of at least 50 percent are the minimum to be considered a good offer. Compared to the previous year, when a 38 percent discount was considered bargains, the bar has subsided significantly higher. The big shopping day falls on November 29th this year and promises to be fiercely contested!

"The consumers have become more demanding," explains PWC trading expert Christian Wulff. In view of the high inflation, consumers have an eye on their expenses and search for the best bargains. The importance of Black Friday and similar discount campaigns increases because people are increasingly looking for savings. 83 percent of Germans plan to look for bargains at Black Friday this year - an increase of 13 percent compared to the previous year!

men spend more than women

The buying mood is unbroken! On average, the buyers plan to spend around 277 euros, a slight decline compared to 281 euros in the previous year. Particularly striking: men show themselves more spending than women. Many use the campaign days to buy Christmas gifts, with products from the areas of electronics and technology continue to be the favorites. But not everyone is ready to shop vigorously this year - every fifth plans to be more reserved, as the rising prices and a lower budget brake many buyers. Only every sixth has no interest in the discounts.

The Black Friday has become one of the most important sales days in German trade, right after the Advent Days. Dealers attract special offers weeks in advance to use the purchasing power of consumers. The Black Friday originally comes from the USA, where it marks the beginning of the Christmas business. In Germany, the brand has been legally protected since 2013, and the anticipation for the discount battle is in full swing!
