Kochverein Göppingen celebrates 50 years of passion and young talent!

The Göppingen cooking club celebrated its 50th anniversary with great cheers! Half a century full of passion for culinary art and tireless commitment to young people - these are the cornerstones of this traditional club. The club was founded on December 10, 1974 in the Schönblick restaurant of the Eislingen restaurateur Karl-Heinz Kottmann, who then gathered a group of like-minded chefs. Today the association is an integral part of the nationwide association of chefs in Germany.

At the festive anniversary evening in the rooms of the WMF catering in Geislingen, the founding members Karl-Heinz Kottmann and Kurt Schmidt and long-time chairman Hans-Jochim Thestorf were appointed honorary members. Chairman Bernd Walter and his deputy Markus Jüngert congratulated and appreciated the merits of the jubilees. Kottmann remembered his beginnings as a young chef in Stuttgart, where he discovered the association and felt the desire to also create such a club in Göppingen.

A look at the story

The foundation of the cooking association was a milestone for the catering trade in the region. With a group of committed chefs, including Kurt Clement, Erich Straubinger and many others, the foundation stone was laid for a community that still exists today. "We were all the chefs with passion and wanted to get involved," said Kottmann. This passion for culinary art and promoting young people is still the focus of the club work.

The Göppingen cooking club is not only committed to the quality in the catering trade, but also the training of young talents. The members are determined to pass on the high art of cooking and inspire the next generation of chefs. A look into the future shows that the association will continue to play a central role in the culinary landscape of the region.
