Children bring Christmas to the old people's home-touching encounters in Rohrbach-Berg!
As part of a touching school project, students from the Rohrbach-Berg middle school attended the residents of a district old-age home. They not only sang Christmas carols, but also presented lovingly designed letters and personal wishes to the approximately 90 seniors. This special event took place in the course of the “Charity: Christmas in the Kupert” project, which was initiated by the teacher Alexandra Grubich. The children were thrilled when they heard about the idea of writing letters to people who cannot be at home at Christmas, said MEINBZIRD .
emotional effects on everyone involved
The students dealt with the action creatively by incorporating individual drawings and personal messages into their letters. Grubich, proud of the sensitivity of their students, emphasized that many of the children were able to establish a personal connection to the campaign because they have their own relatives who live in old people's homes. The home manager, Martin Reumüller, confirmed the positive reactions of the residents, who were deeply touched by the visit and the warm gestures of the children. "Some tears flowed, which shows how important such encounters are," added Grubich.
In addition, the problem of child poverty in Germany is an urgent topic. According to the Bertelsmann Foundation, almost 2.9 million children and adolescents under the age of 18 are at risk of poverty. In particular, the age group of young adults between the ages of 18 and 25 has the highest risk of being poor at 25.5%. The current figures make it clear that more than every fifth child in Germany is affected by poverty and thus an existing social imbalance is fueled, as in a report on bildungsServer.de
