A 27-year-old man from Ostallgäu had to answer there after he was caught with more than the permitted amount of cannabis plants. According to the Allgäuer Zeitung it became clear that despite the change in the law, strict regulations apply.

The legalization of cannabis pursued several goals, as the Federal Ministry of Health explains in a message. These include protection against contaminated substances, the regulation of the black market and the protection of young people. Another regulation stipulates that the self -growing of up to three female cannabis plants is only allowed for people over the age of 18. In addition, the extension must be designed in such a way that it remains inaccessible to children and adolescents. From July 1st, cannabis social clubs can also be founded where members can grow cannabis together, whereby the submission of seeds to non-members is prohibited, such as the Augsburger General reported.

The risk of violating the new rules remains present, as the case in Kaufbeuren proves. Here it becomes clear that the legal framework is subject to strict controls despite the partial legalization and that the citizens should be aware of which quantities are allowed.
