Insolvent pharmacies: Hope for new investors and customer loyalty!

Schweinfurt, Deutschland - The German pharmacies face massive challenges! Since the beginning of October, two traditional pharmacies have been in a renovation process and fight for their future. These practices, which have existed for 40 and 22 years, have to deal with a dramatic decline in customer frequency after its managing director Hümmer, who also founded a successful mail -order pharmacy, took over the management. These pharmacies are part of an alarming trend: The German pharmacy market is continuously shrinking and recently reached a low of only 17,571 pharmacies, such as Statista reported.

But there is hope: The managing director emphasizes that the pharmacies continue to generate stable sales. "We need the support of customers," said Roeger. First discussions with potential investors are promising, and the employees are motivated to keep the pharmacies alive. The stability of sales is of crucial importance for investors, since they exactly analyze the development. During the renovation process, the operation of the pharmacies remains upright, and customers can continue to count on pharmaceutical advice and products. This could be crucial to find a new owner by February 2025 and revive the shops, such as Pharmacy adhoc reported.

A change in the pharmacy market

The pharmacy industry is currently in transition, triggered by legal changes and an increase in the online market. The mail order trade ensures dramatic change and is predicted that it will remain a growth segment in the future. Over 90 percent of the sales of the pharmacies do not apply to the submission of pharmaceuticals, with 80 percent of these deliveries subject to prescription. The pharmacy mail order trade celebrates triumphal sales with OTC drugs, while at the same time the shortage of skilled workers is also a significant problem in pharmacies. More than 68,000 pharmaceutical-technical assistants and over 53,000 pharmacists fight for personnel difficulties and poor resources, which also contains the already tense operating processes.

In this turbulent time, it remains to be seen whether the pharmacies concerned can find an investor to keep the doors open. The stability of sales and the support of customers are of central importance for the survival of pharmacies in Germany.
