Hygiene weather in Flensburg: Barbershops suspected!

The health service of the city of Flensburg has announced plans to check all around 100 hairdressing shops and barbershops for their hygiene standards by the end of 2025. This measure follows the results of the first controls, in which defects were found in 15 out of 16 barbershops. There are currently no reports about infections with the skin fungus "Trichophyton Tonsurans".

The mushroom "Trichophyton Tonsurans" can lead to various skin problems, including itchy scalp, scales and purulent areas. In the past three years, the appearance of infections with this skin fungus in Germany has increased more. In order to avoid further infections, the city of Flensburg plans to sensitize more awareness in cooperation with the Chamber of Crafts and the trade supervision, barbershop operator and hairdressers, such as BGW
