Schmitten, Deutschland - Winter turbulence over Hesse! After a stormy Tuesday that was characterized by heavy rain, the region is facing a frosty upheaval. The temperatures fall drastically and snow could fall down to the deepest locations. The German Weather Service (DWD) raises the alarm: Storm gusts with speeds of up to 75 km/h can be expected in all circles and independent cities of Hesse until Tuesday evening, and even up to 85 km/h in exposed locations. Impressive 98 km/h were already measured on the Wasserkuppe!

The weather situation is anything but stable. Meteorologist Michael Köckritz explains that the wind is more turbulent than in the last high -pressure weeks, but most of the leaves have already fallen from the trees, which reduces the attack area for the wind. Nevertheless, some branches could break. There are also warnings of constant rain with rainfall of up to 50 liters per square meter in staples. On Tuesday the temperatures still moved between 6 and 11 degrees, but the cold air is approaching!

The wind will significantly reduce on Wednesday night, while the rain moves further southeast. When it is loosened up, further showers can be expected that pass into snow in deep locations. However, the snow will not stay there. On the other hand, up to five centimeters of fresh snow are possible on the mountains! The temperatures drop to 3 degrees in the Rheingau and up to -2 degrees in higher locations, where it can get smooth.

From Wednesday it will also be frosty during the day, with maximum values ​​from only 0 to 6 degrees. The nights on Thursday and Friday could color the streets white! Thursday brings a mixture of sun and clouds, with snow or snow rings, while on Friday the temperatures drop to up to 4 degrees and further snow and pee showers are expected.
