Yorckstraße in Wiesbaden: Modernization brings more security and comfort!

A reason to celebrate in Wiesbaden! The redesigned Yorckstrasse was officially inaugurated on Thursday, November 14th - and the whole six months earlier than planned! Building and traffic director Andreas Kowol praised the impressive work of the civil engineering and surveying office and the ELW when the construction site is committed. The Yorckstraße, which extends over 400 meters between Bismarckring and Nettelbeckstrasse, now shines in new splendor and offers significantly higher traffic safety for all residents and road users.

In just two years of construction, the road was extensively modernized. "Wiesbaden is investing in its infrastructure so that our city still works in 20 or 30 years," emphasized Kowol. The measures included not only the renewal of the road, but also the complete renewal of the drainage channels as well as the gas and water pipes. In addition, electricity and communication cables were relocated, which modernized the traffic areas on around 7,000 square meters and revolutionized mobility in the city.

new standards for mobility

The new Yorckstraße sets standards: newly ordered parking and delivery zones, storage areas for sharing mobility and 25 new bicycle brackets are just a few of the highlights. The car sharing parking spaces on Blucherplatz remain and a new e-charging station is already being planned. The road will be accessible as a one -way street from the Bismarckring, and there will also be a opposite direction for cyclists. The sidewalks were widened to at least 2.50 meters to meet the needs of pedestrians, especially families with prams or people with mobility restrictions.

The overall investment for this ambitious project amounts to around 5.1 million euros, with around 3.15 million euros flow into road construction. With this measure, the city of Wiesbaden shows that it is ready to invest in the future and to improve the quality of life of its citizens. A real milestone for urban development!
