New music star Leo Mcfall inspires Wiesbaden in the Kurhaus!
Kurhaus Wiesbaden, Deutschland - Wiesbaden experienced an impressive concert in the grandiose spa house that made the musical hearts beat faster! Leo Mcfall made his debut as general music director of the Hessian State Orchestra and offered the audience an extraordinary program that ranged from avant -garde sounds to emotional Czech romance. With works by Charles Ives, Charlotte Bray and Bedřich Smetana, Mcfall came up with the gates to a musical experience that you don't forget so quickly.
The evening began with Ives ’profound composition" The Unanswered Question ", which the listeners confronted with the philosophical question of the meaning of life. A fascinating interaction of the instruments, in which strings, flutes and trumpet acted for unconnected, created a captivating sound landscape. The clear intonation of the trumpet urged Ives' central question in the room, while the flutes answered nervously - a musical game that impressively illustrated the existential uncertainty. In the German premiere of Charlotte Bray's “Germinate”, the energetic dynamics of contemporary music, which led the audience to the brink of tension, then developed. The brilliant soloists harmonized perfectly and conjured up an unforgettable sound experience on the stage.

The second part of the concert devoted Bedřich Smetana's epic work "Má Vlast" and enchanted the audience with a musical journey through the beauty and the historical heritage of Czech Republic. Mcfall led the orchestra through all six symphonic poems, a rarity that amazed the audience. Starting with "Vyšehrad", a tribute to the majestic fortress, followed by "Die Moldau", which impressively described the picturesque river course. The Hessian State Orchestra shone, even if some vocal effects of the large percussion instruments came into their own than desired.
Smetana's stories of revenge, legends and the beauty of nature experienced a new dimension in Mcfalle. You felt the passion that the conductor elicited from the musicians, and the dynamic change fascinated until the last note. An evening full of emotions that not only reached the sounds, but also the hearts of the audience. The enthusiasm in the Kurhaus was more than noticeable - it was the many lush sound volume that made this evening a reminder and presented Leo Mcfall as the new hero of the musical stage!
