Pure imagination: State theater Wiesbaden inspires with new Fantasio!

Pure imagination: State theater Wiesbaden inspires with new Fantasio!

In the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, the audience experienced a breathtaking reinterpretation of Jacques Offenbach's work that was anything but usual! Director Anna Weber revolutionized the piece: With a fresh action, new text and even a newly designed main character, which now appears as a female role, the classic opera was turned upside down. Fantasio, traditionally a trouser role, is now embodied by a woman, which was not enthusiastic about all spectators. But the music remains unchanged - pure Offenbach!

The staging sprays from colors and imagination, with fairytale costumes by Laura Kirst, who transform the stage into a lively children's theater. A pink horse, weird hairstyles and floating dancers ensure a visual spectacle. The performance is peppered with dance and slapstick elements that make the audience laugh. And the best? In the end there is a happy ending: theater, freedom of fools and imagination are saved!

vocal actors and enthusiastic audience

The soloist ensemble convinced the audience with brilliant achievements. Camille Sherman, as Fantasio and Josefine Mindus, were particularly outstanding as there, which shone with their clear, flexible and warm coloraturas. The choir, consisting of members of the young state musical, was masterfully choreographed by Paulina Alpen and contributed to the fantastic atmosphere. The premiere audience in Wiesbaden was enthusiastic and celebrated the performance as a successful overall package!
