Vogelsberg relies on the sun: New PV system saves 50 tons of CO2 annually!

A revolutionary step for the energy transition in the Vogelsberg district! With the installation of a new photovoltaic system at the administrative location on the Goldhelg in Lauterbach, not only the CO2 emissions are drastically reduced, but also forced the energy costs. Incredible 50 tons of carbon dioxide per year are saved! District Administrator Dr. Jens Mischak is enthusiastic: "Here we create our own electricity, which we consume directly in our offices. This presses the electricity costs by a whopping 40,000 euros a year!"

The impressive PV system with 99 kilowatt peak (KWP) is part of a comprehensive investment offensive in the amount of one million euros. "With this annual performance, 35 households could be supplied with electricity all year round," explains climate protection manager Marcel Pfeil proudly. The energy is not fed into the network, but is used directly - a self -consumption rate of 93 percent makes it possible! Around 20 percent of the total electricity requirement on the Goldhelg comes directly from the roof. A total of 225 modules were installed with 440 watts each, and that for around 118,000 euros.

Investment offensive for the future

The new system is not the first on this offensive. In spring, a PV system was already installed on the roof of the District of Building Building, Energy and Building Industry in Alsfeld. Other locations such as the Dreifelderhalle at IGS Schlitzerland and the sports hall of the Gerhart Hauptmann School in Alsfeld followed. But that's just the beginning! In a second round, the district office, the Alexander von Humboldt-Gymnasium in Lauterbach and the Albert Schweitzer School in Alsfeld are to be equipped with new facilities. Thanks to the clever planning by the specialist office, the costs could be kept low so that even more PV systems can be installed.
