Experience medicine students exciting family practice in Vogelsberg!

Vogelsbergkreis, Deutschland - Six curious medical students from the Philipps University Marburg gained educational insights into the family doctor in an exciting week in the picturesque Vogelsberg district. As part of the "Hesse - Land - Medicine" program, they were given the opportunity to experience the challenges and opportunities of medical care in rural areas up close. The pressure due to the lack of country doctors in Hesse is becoming increasingly unbearable, and such internships could be a key to solving the problem.

During their stay, the students visited several general practitioners in Alsfeld, Lauterbach and Homberg. They were particularly impressed by the family atmosphere that surrounds many of these practices. The exchange with experienced general practitioners turned out to be extremely informative and enriching. In a practice in Lauterbach, the students took part in a workshop on the subject of psychosomatics, which of Dr. Christof Schwarzer and Dr. Simone Schwarzer was led. This offered them valuable perspectives on the psychological aspects of medical care.

an unforgettable insight into the medical reality

The week was not only instructive, but also varied! In addition to practical experience in the medical practices, the students had the opportunity to attend the Department of Internal Medicine in the Schotten district hospital. A trip to the picturesque Hoherodskopf and a dinner together with specialists in health care rounded off the program. After this inspiring time in the Vogelsberg district, the students full of new impressions started their return trip. Such stories are crucial for the future of medical care in rural areas - and the students could be the next generations of general practitioners!
