Stephanus house in Alsfeld: 150,000 euros against loneliness!
In Alsfeld, an important project is initiated that aims to increase the quality of life of older people in the Haus Stephanus nursing home and to get it out of loneliness. The Hessian state has given this initiative as part of the “in the middle of life” program with generous funding of 150,000 euros to support the coordination office of the house.
Furniture manager Manuel Jöckel said that the increasing life expectancy unfortunately also brings with it increasing social isolation of older people. The project "Generations Health Network - Community Coping Strategy against Loneliness" should start here and create innovative solutions to counteract this.
innovative approaches through cooperations
The main goal is to establish a lively network both within the home and in the region through collaboration with local associations and volunteers. Jöckel is confident that the collaborations that are received with various actors will represent long -term offers that benefit the residents. "We look forward to an exciting time and are confident that we can not only contribute to improving the social participation and quality of life of our residents, but also presenting the image of geriatric care as a dynamic area," Jöckel continues.
The project was only recently approved, and together with the residents and the care team, it is now being worked on developing innovative ideas. In the background of the project, the funding initiative launched by the Hessian Nursing Ministry in April 2024 to improve the quality of life in nursing homes
Minister Diana Stolz had emphasized that the social participation of the residents was crucial, in particular the integration into the social environment in order to fight loneliness. "The coordination points should help to better involve people in nursing homes in the social structures of their environment," she said.
call for participation from the environment
The house Stephanus is now calling all interested parties - clubs, daycare centers, schools and groups - to participate in the project. "You are cordially invited to get involved in our project," says the facility full of optimism. Those responsible are convinced that the participation of external actors can make a valuable contribution to combating loneliness in nursing homes.
The idea for this project came up by calling for funding, which inspired the team in Stephanus' house to design new concepts for the more active everyday care life. An initial framework was quickly drawn up for a detailed funding application, which is now hoping for a three -year funding.
In summary, the project of the house Stephanus shows that creative and communal approaches can sustainably improve living conditions and the well -being of older people. A comprehensive participation from the region will benefit both the residents of the old people's home and the community.
