On Thursday morning there was a serious traffic accident near Lauterbach on the L3140 country road. At around 7.55 a.m., two vehicles collided head -on, which led to injuries to both drivers. The police reported that the accident was caused by a failed overtaking maneuver of a young driver who was traveling towards Lauterbach.

The driver, whose car skidded, had tried to overtake a vehicle in front on the rain -soaked road. He lost control of his vehicle and drifted into oncoming traffic. As a result, there was a collision with the car of a 50-year-old who came from the opposite direction. The collision was violent and added to both injuries involved.

The young driver who was traveling with his Opel is classified as the cause of the accident. He was examined on site by the emergency services and taken to the hospital. The 50-year-old driver of a Dacia suffered serious injuries and also needed medical help. According to initial investigations, the condition was heavily classified for the woman, but for the young man as slightly injured.

The first estimates for property damage amount to around 10,000 euros. Hessen Mobil was quickly called to the scene of the accident to dissolve leaking operating materials and clean the road. During the rescue work, the L3140 was temporarily completely blocked from the roundabout towards Dirlammen.

In the deployment, several rescue vehicles, including two ambulances and an emergency doctor, were present, as well as a vehicle from Hessen Mobil and two patrol cars from the Lauterbach police. This quick reaction during the mission was crucial to restore security on the street.

It is not the first incident of this kind in the region: only at the beginning of the week two people were injured in a serious accident on the country road between Sandlofs and Fraurombach. This shows how important it is to strictly follow the road traffic rules and to exercise special caution on wet and slippery lanes in order to avoid such accidents.
