FDP summer festival: Discussions about the future and challenges in Hesse
In the recently organized summer festival of the Vogelsberger FDP, federal politics was the focus of the talks. District chairman Stephan Ringmaier welcomed prominent guests such as the member of the Bundestag Peter Heidt and the member of the state parliament Matthias Büger. District chairman Dennis Pucher was also present to support the events of the day.
At the beginning of the event, those present intended in a minute's silence by the late Honorary Chairman of the FDP, Dr. Wolfgang Gerhardt. In his speech, Stephan Ringmaier emphasized the importance of the political work of the liberals and gave an overview of future challenges.
contribution from the Hessian state parliament
Matthias Büger reported on the current situation in the Hessian state parliament. He emphasized that the FDP positions itself as a "constructive opposition of the middle", which, among other things, means that one is ready to work with the coalition of the CDU and SPD when it comes to meaningful suggestions. An example of this is the new legislative amendment to the Hessian shop closing law, which enables unmanned sales outlets at farm shops and small supermarkets are also open on Sundays and on public holidays. These changes aim to take into account the needs of the population and at the same time to strengthen the economic possibilities of the small dealers.
However, Büger also warns of negative developments. By establishing an investigation committee, the liberals had pointed out grievances in the government, especially in connection with the affair about the dismissed State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of Economic Affairs. This shows that the FDP is willing to raise uncomfortable questions and to hold the government responsible.
In terms of the upcoming elections, Dennis Pucher, who, as a direct candidate in the Giessen-Vogelsberg constituency, said that the FDP was well prepared. It is important for Pucher to look optimistically into the future, even if there are currently large reform backlog. The nomination of the Bundestag candidates for the district of Central Hesse should be completed by the end of the month.
The challenges of the traffic light coalition
Peter Heidt addressed the challenges with which the traffic light coalition is confronted. He expressed skepticism about the support of the coalition within his parliamentary group and made it clear that it is not a simple solution to leave the coalition. He emphasized that urgent topics such as the Federal Balentment 2025, the pension package and the support of Ukraine have to be tackled until the next federal election.
In addition, Heidt illuminated the state of the Bundeswehr and the challenges created by lack of equipment and staff. He found that the state of the Bundeswehr is due not least to the failures of the previous government. "Especially the CDU, which is now shining loudest, should be aware of their responsibility," said Heidt and demanded a clearer migration policy.
After the official speeches, the event ended in a personal atmosphere, in which smaller groups discussed by the MPs and party friends. Stephan Ringmaier presented the guests gift from regional production, as a sign of appreciation for their participation and commitment.
