Parkchaos in Offenbach: New construction areas bring massive problems!
In the Bieber-Nord new area in Offenbach, an increasing parking pressure is shown before the area is fully developed. Although not all construction areas have yet been populated, the parking situation in Adam-Marsch-Strasse is tense. There the road is so parked with cars in the morning and in the evening that it can only be driven on. A resident, Daniel Weiss, describes the challenges that arise from this situation. Cars are often in confluence, which creates dangerous situations for children who want to go through the road.
The threat to the security situation is reinforced by the fact that only about 70 percent of the residential area are currently built on. Weiss expresses its concerns about the traffic situation that could tighten when the area is completely populated. Despite the designated parking spaces, other cars find their way, sometimes even on the sidewalk, which significantly restricts right mobility.
city administration sees the need to solve the problem
Daniel Weiss has already repeatedly tried to point out the city. His inquiries about one -way regulations, additional parking spaces or increased control of the parking situation have so far remained unanswered or were rejected. It is important to him to emphasize that he is not fighting for himself, but for the general situation: "The car density grows, and even if there is a nearby S-Bahn station, the trains are often unreliable, which forces many to use the car," he continues.
The city of Offenbach leads to the reason for the current parking space regulation that at least 0.5 parking spaces are intended for each new residential building in the new parking space statute of 2023, since an S-Bahn station is nearby. During the planning, a key was determined by a parking space for each residential unit, which should stimulate residents to use parking spaces on the property anyway.
The Offenbach city administration, however, points out that after the final expansion of the streets in Bieber-Nord, only around 180 public parking spaces are available, which should serve in particular visitors or delivery traffic. The current practice of parking on both sides of Adam-Marsch-Straße is not legalized. The city is planning the expansion of the street for the first half of 2025 and will implement measures that should clearly regulate the parking space situation.
urban implementation and future visions
The development plan, which dates from 2000, is the foundation of these solutions. "An additional range of public parking spaces is not shown and was not wanted politically," explains the city. A neighborhood garage is also not intended in the B-Plan, and the administration sees an essential solution in the creation of private parking spaces on the property. In addition, the city hopes that the degree of motorization will decrease in the future to reduce parking pressure in public space.
The principle of hope is therefore in the room, which is not unproblematic in such a rapidly growing area as Bieber-Nord. If the city administration's hopes are not met, both residents and visitors could expect increasing parking pressure in the near future, which could significantly impair the quality of life in the area.
For a detailed understanding of this situation, it is crucial to follow the current developments in the new development area closely. The state of the situation shows that a comprehensive solution is currently urgently necessary to meet both the needs of the residents and the requirements of traffic.
