With 145 powerful solar modules on the roof, every sunbeam is transformed into clean electricity - from the play kitchen to the office. This impressive solar system is a central part of the photovoltaic offensive of the city of Offenbach, which relies on sustainability!

Climate strategy in action

The installation of the solar system is the result of a pioneering city council decision from 2023, which aims to equip all urban buildings with photovoltaic systems. Stadtwerke Offenbach Holding GmbH has undertaken to invest 1.3 million euros annually in this green project by 2027. A total of 45 plants are to be created that together produce over five million kilowatt hours of environmentally friendly electricity per year - a real profit for the environment!

The system on the Rödernstrasse daycare center reaches a top performance of 63 kilowatt peak. And the best thing about it? The excess electricity, which is not used during the childcare times or on weekends, flows directly into the public power grid and is therefore available to all Offenbachers. A real ray of hope for the city!

A step into the green future

The Kita Rödernstrasse was completed in 2021 as part of a replacement new building. Originally, a green roof was planned, which had to be postponed for cost reasons. But the city of Offenbach was lucky in misfortune: remaining funds from the final accounting of the project not only enabled the subsequent greening, but also the integration of the solar system. The costs of almost 70,000 euros were completely covered by the municipal utilities. This is already the seventh of a total of 45 planned systems, and for 2025 there are already over ten further projects on urban properties.

In addition, Energieversorgung Offenbach AG (EVO) supports this sustainable initiative and thus actively contributes to climate protection in the region. Offenbach goes on with a good example and shows how you can make the future sustainable with innovative solutions!
