Marburg plans property tax C: Higher taxes for unused areas!
Marburg. A dramatic turning point for property tax C! On Wednesday, November 13th, the introduction of this tax, which was originally planned for 2025, was postponed by the city council. But the Marburger SPD has decided at its party congress, which could have a lasting impact on the tax policy of the city.
The new strategy stipulates that the income from property tax C, which is collected on unused, installation properties, are to be used to reduce property tax B. "The application no longer stands for 2025, but in general," explained Ekkehard Schulze, the chairman of the SPD local association Hansenhaus-Südbahnhof. This measure could reduce the financial burden for the citizens, while a higher level of balance for property tax C is sought, which could be up to five times as high as that for property tax b.
Property Tax C: A new control concept
The SPD emphasizes that property tax C is not intended to build. "If you don't want to build, you should pay higher taxes," said Schulze. This strategy could also be a strong remedy for soil speculation, especially in areas with many unused land. Schulze sees in this reform the "social democracy in its best form" and emphasizes that property tax B is not only borne by home owners, but also by tenants, since landlords often pass on these costs. The discussion about property tax C could thus have far -reaching financial consequences for the Marburg population.
