Marburg increases trade tax: New notices from 2025 for 19,000 owners!
The city of Marburg is facing a significant tax adjustment! In a meeting on Friday, the city council decided on the new lifting rates for trade tax, which apply from January 1, 2025. The city thus follows the guidelines from Wiesbaden and increases the trade tax rate to 380 percentage points. This is done within the framework of the nationwide property tax reform, which will come into force from 2025 and fundamentally changed the calculation of property tax.
The property tax is due for all properties and agricultural areas. Mayor Dr. Thomas Spies emphasizes that the city is planning around twelve million euros for 2025. The property tax remains stable, but is redistributed. The new lifting rates for property tax A (agricultural and forestry space) fall to 210 percent, while property tax B (treated and undeveloped land) increases to 450 percent. This affects around 19,000 owners who will soon receive new notices.
important changes for companies
The adjustment of the trade tax rate is particularly important for the 2312 companies in Marburg. After the record income in recent years, the sentence in 2022 was reduced from 400 to 357 percent. But now the city follows the new leveling rate of 380 points, which is specified by the state government. This decision is expected to lead to income of 119 million euros from trade tax. The reform has a direct impact on companies, since the higher sentences also influence the levies on Wiesbaden.
