Shining spectacle in the sky: Comet C/2023 A3 over Marburg visible!

Marburg, Deutschland - In Marburg, a heavenly event causes a sensation these days: the comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-Atlas), a spectacular sky object that is visible with the naked eye. Many people may still remember the comet "Neowise", which was admired during the pandemic in 2020 and caused great interest. The KOMET C/2023 A3 has now been announced as the brightest comet since this event and is expected to be just as impressive.

Professor Andreas Schrimpf, an expert in astronomy at the University of Marburg, confirms that the comet is as bright as the Polarstern. This means that it is clearly recognizable in the evening sky without a tool, which makes observing particularly exciting. Schrimpf explains that comets that are the remains of the formation of the solar system and consist of ice, dust and loose rock are unique natural phenomena that are rarely observed.

comet comes in sight in the evening

The best observation conditions for the comet are located in rural areas where there is little light pollution. Increased viewpoints such as mountains or hills are ideal, as you have a clear view of the sky from there. C/2023 A3 can currently be seen in a west direction above the horizon. Prof. Schrimpf reported that he was already able to perceive the comet as a "very light dot".

If you are interested in science and astronomy, you should not miss the opportunity to observe the comet more closely. This Saturday, October 19, the "Long Night of Astronomy" will take place in the Botanical Garden on the Lahnbergen, where interested parties have the opportunity to look at the comets through high -performance telescopes. Details such as the impressive double tail can then be seen here, which is hardly possible with the naked eye or with a large -scale liner.

The ideal time for observation begins with the dawn and extends until around 9:30 p.m. A special highlight for astronomically interested, since you can experience the symptoms of heavenly in a more detailed form.

c/2023 A3 has already reached its sunny point and was just under 60 million kilometers from the sun on September 27, which corresponds approximately to the distance of the innermost planet Mercury. In Germany, however, the comet was almost unavoidable at the time. Since October 13, people in our hemisphere can easily observe the comets after sunset. It was first discovered by telescopic plants in China and South Africa in January 2023 and has since developed into one visitor in our evening heaven.

This natural attraction not only inspires scientists, but also the general public and arouses interest in astronomy, a field that always has new fascination.
