Energy transition in Unterrosphe: Cooperative takes over local heat supply!

Weather. An exciting step for the residents of Unterrosphe: The energy community has taken over the local heating plant and is now Energy producer! So far, Stadtwerke Wetter has been running the combined heat and power plant, but from 2025 the cooperative will also take over the wood chips. This is an important turning point, because the municipal utilities fought for years with red numbers and an annual loss in the high five -digit range.

On Tuesday, November 12th, the city council gave the green light for the sale of the heating plant. The purchase price of 760,000 euros was determined after long negotiations, with the energy community taking over 560,000 euros and the Bioenergiehof contributes 200,000 euros. This agreement is not only a financial success, but also a step in the direction of sustainable energy supply for more than half of the households in Unterrosphe that are supplied with the local heating network.

Stadtwerke and cooperative agree on 760,000 euros

The biogas, which is generated in the Bioenergiehof "in front of the firs" in Oberrosphe, is led into both parts of the city via the heating power plant. This innovative system uses the waste heat to generate electricity and supplies the connected households. In winter it is also heated with wood, which is particularly advantageous in times of the energy crisis. Mayor Sven Schmidt-Mankel was pleased with the agreement and emphasized that the project represents a secure future for local heating.

Praise for fast and fair sales negotiations

The municipal utilities were able to take a great concern, because the liabilities were 887,000 euros on January 1. A industrial engineering office had estimated the value of the plants to almost the purchase price. Despite the desire for a higher price, the mayor was satisfied with the result and praised the quick, open and fair negotiation. The city councilor Astrid Wagner also expressed her joy about the successful completion of the talks.
