Volunteering: Mernes outdoor pool shines as a new natural pool!

These words underline the tireless work of people who work for the weaker and often work in the background.

A shining example of such commitment is the outdoor pool in Mernes, which was converted into a natural pool by Thorsten Desch and his team. After two years of hard work and over 3,000 hours done by a committed community, the bathroom was reopened this summer with new changing rooms, showers and a modern pumping station. "This shows how volunteering and teamwork can lead to great results," praised Hofmann at the award ceremony.

KJG Bernbach: Over 40 years of engagement

The children's and youth group (KJG) in Bernbach is another prime example of exemplary commitment. Members have been committed to their fellow human beings for over 40 years, promote ethical values and offer addiction and violence prevention. Jörg Mair, the committee chair, emphasized the importance of the camp, which are also open to non-members. "Responsibility for society is taken over here," he emphasized.

In addition, the "Spielplatzfreunde Nidderau" under the direction of Anna Neumer, who already look after 14 out of 23 playgrounds in the urban area. Your mission: making playgrounds more attractive and promoting social interaction. "This is remarkable and admirable," says Hofmann. The group has launched creative projects to enrich the playground for children and families.

Martina Pohl from Erlensee is another heroine of the volunteer, who shines with her tireless efforts for the youth and the community. It organizes numerous activities, including holiday weeks and craft afternoons, and is also active in the Catholic Church. "It is good that there are such committed people," concluded Mair and thanked everyone who contributed to the celebration of voluntary work.
