Christmas tree breakdown: XXL-Douglasia fights against bureaucracy in Kassel!
Königsplatz, 34115 Kassel, Deutschland - Kassel (Hessen) - A Christmas tree that challenges the German bureaucracy! The impressive Douglasia, proud 16 meters high and 3.5 tons weighs, finally made it to the Christmas market after a three -day delay. Originally, the tree was supposed to be on the Königsplatz last Saturday, but an unexpected problem made transport a challenge.
The 33-year-old tree, lovingly called "Ludwig Emil Grimm", grew in the garden of the Fabireck family in Borken (Schwalm-Eder-Kreis). There he was felled with a crane because the family feared that he could fall on her house. But when the city of Kassel selected the tree for the Christmas market, it turned out that it was too wide for the planned route! The organizers had hoped to tackle the lower branches at 3.50 meters, but the reality was different. A new special permit for heavy transport had to be requested.
The transport of the year
On Wednesday the redeeming news came: The tree survived the 50 -kilometer journey from Borken to Kassel and was successfully set up! The joy is great, because now the tree can develop its full splendor on the royal square. A true Christmas magic!
But Kassel is not new in the world of Christmas tree breakdown. As early as 2019, there were delays due to a tree that was too large, and in Frankfurt the tip of a Christmas tree broke out during transport in 2015. The Christmas tree transport story is full of surprises! For Kassel, it is to be hoped that the "Ludwig Emil Grimm" can now enjoy the festive season undisturbed.
