Police officers in court: dog bite without need - what really happened?

A shocking incident currently employs the Kassel district court: two police officers have to answer for the bite of their service dog, who injured a man in December 2021. The public prosecutor raises serious allegations: the police are said to have released their dog on the man without any reason and then deliberately lied to cover up their actions.

The accused, 33 and 34 years old, face accusations for the joint persecution of innocent and wrongly false statements. Particularly explosive: The older official is also charged with assault in office because he is said to have used his dog for no sufficient reason. The incident occurred when the police were alerted because an aggressive person persecuted another. The suspect who suffers from a mental illness was visited by the officials, and the dog bit him in the thigh.

Investigations against the victim

In order to conceal their own mistakes, the officials are said to have initiated an investigation against the injured party, in which they incorrectly accused him of resistance to enforcement officers. According to the public prosecutor, however, there were no acts of resistance, but the officials only invented them. In addition, they are accused of having made false statements in a security procedure before the district court of Kassel by claiming that the man had defended himself, which was not the truth.
