Building and living ÖKO: After 30 years, Kasseler closes furniture store

Harleshäuser Straße 17, 34127 Kassel, Deutschland - Kassel-A sad chapter for the city: After 30 years, the popular ecobau market in Kirchditmold closes its doors! The owners Felicitas Kaufmann-Brandt and Bärbel Grebe are facing the final closure of their beloved business, which was much more than just a job for them. The clearance sale is already in full swing and the two women are busy while the shelves are empty. "It's a bit of our living room," says Kaufmann-Brandt, while looking at the now empty 500 square meter sales area.

The history of the Ökobau market began in 1984 when Kaufmann-Brandt opened its first small shop. The business grew over the years and the owners managed to offer a unique range of ecological home furniture. But despite the success and a loyal regular customer of around 1,500 people who came from Kassel and the surrounding area, the search for a successor was unsuccessful. "We have been looking for someone who continues the business for ten years," explains Grebe. But nobody wanted to take the step into self -employment.

a farewell with melancholy

The closure is not only a loss for the owners, but also for customers who appreciated the market as a contact point for healthy living and individual advice. "Our customers are very unhappy because of the closure," emphasizes Grebe. The two women have always placed value on personal advice and did not let online trading or corona pandemic. "We didn't go into the economic flaut and internet trap," says Grebe proudly.

Now only the sale remains, which continues until the market is finalized. The doors at Harleshäuser Straße 17 are still open until the last day - Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A farewell that certainly does not go unnoticed in Kassel!
