Kassel is testing new stray: Cycle for sure despite snow and ice!
Kassel, Deutschland - In Kassel, winter is becoming safer for cyclists! An innovative test track for stray has been set up to determine the best products against snow and ice on bike paths. Cyclists and pedestrians can actively participate and share their experiences. The route extends over five sections, each treated with different strays, including wood chips, grit and salt.
The bicycle route 4, which runs between the Kassel harbor and Niestetal, has been divided into five marked sections since mid -November. Anne Grimm, the city's bicycle officer, explained that users can recognize which stray they are driving. The aim is to find the perfect anti-slip agent to increase safety in winter conditions.

The test track is not only easy testing, but also an interactive experience! At each section, the testers can give their opinion about QR codes. The city hopes to identify the ideal stray agent through these feedback in order to enable cyclists to drive a safe journey even in frosty temperatures.
Various materials are used on the route: brine, wood chips, grit, classic rock salt and a salt -free granulate that should be environmentally friendly. While the city is looking forward to the results of the test, the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) expresses concerns: Rollplit is "completely unsuitable" and could damage bike tires. The discussion about the best stray for cycle paths has started and the citizens of Kassel are invited to be part of this exciting development!Details | |
