Fighting helicopter about Kassel: a thank you from the Bundeswehr!

Kassel, Deutschland - On December 12, 2024, the sky will be transformed into a spectacle over Kassel: a large number of fighting helicopters of the Fritzlar fighter helicopter regiment 36 flies in formation over the documenta city. This impressive performance, which begins around 12:30 p.m., is more than just a practice flight-it represents a direct thank you to the Bundeswehr to the population. Colonel Sönke Schmucker, commander of the regiment, explained that this also serves to demonstrate the positive development and the improved condition of the frequently criticized tiger fighting helicopter. The flight route leads over numerous districts and is intended to show the citizens that their military support is valued after military activities are often perceived as annoying.

In addition to this formation flight, the Bundeswehr regiment in Fritzlar plans to receive more than 20 new H145M fight helicopters. According to Hessenschau should start delivering next year. These new, light helicopters significantly expand the possible uses of the regiment and make it more flexible in its tasks, ranging from missile defense to educational missions. The H145M is viewed as an important part of the future tasks of the regiment and represents a temporary solution until the tiger helicopter has been fully duty-up.

The procurement of this helicopter is financed by a federal budget of 2.63 billion euros, and it is planned that up to 28 of these new machines will be stationed in Fritzlar. This changes the requirements for the pilots who have to prepare for various new missions, including evacuation operations. "It is very exciting to see what is coming," emphasized Stabstoffizer Remo Templin-Dahlenburg. With this upgrade, the Bundeswehr continues to continue to be able to deal with future challenges better.
