Transport ban in Edermünde: Heavy trucks have no chance!

in Edermünde grifts, in the picturesque Schwalm-Eder district, there is no longer any getting through for heavy trucks! A strict ban on vehicles over 3.5 tons comes into force after the ongoing construction work on Guxhagener Straße. This decision is no coincidence: too often the existing passage ban was disregarded, which led to considerable damage to the bridge over the Pilgerbach. Alexander Lütt, press officer of the Kassel regional council, warns of the "reduced load capacity of the building". Now structural measures are to be taken to keep truck traffic away from the passage through.

urgent renovation work

The emergency renovation of Guxhagener Straße has already started in mid -August and the entire passage through the town is currently closed. Marco Lingemann, spokesman for Hesse Mobil, informs: "We are in good time and assume that we have repaired all joints by Christmas." The first construction phase has already been completed and the work on the second section runs in full swing. In order to increase efficiency, the second and third phase of construction were merged, which means that the residents have to expect a longer block.

protection against further damage

To protect the concrete frame structure, massive steel plates are used. These plates weigh 9.5 tons each and are intended to bridge the ceiling of the building, which has already suffered from the heavy trucks. "We will try to use two plates a day," explains construction manager Paul Hohmann. In addition, a party tent ensures that rainwater does not damage the freshly edited joints. "It is a special building," emphasizes Hohmann and adds that the work is an acute measure to ensure the safety of the street.
