The anticipation for the festive season increases in Hesse! While the golden autumn sun is still shining, the cities are preparing for the opening of their magical Christmas markets. From the end of November, the region will be immersed in a sparkling sea of lights that illuminate the dark winter evenings. Mulled wine, fir branches and festive treats await visitors who can look forward to romantic moments and social evenings.

The fairytale Christmas market in Kassel, which opens on November 25th, is a real highlight. By December 30th, visitors can immerse yourself in a fantastic world that comes up with an impressive light show and a ferris wheel. The fairytale forest and the world's largest fairy tale pyramid promise unforgettable experiences. Santa Claus will also fly over the market again this year!

Another jewel is the Christmas market of dreams at the Bad Hersfeld Abbey Ruin. From November 25th to December 23rd, visitors can immerse themselves in a contemplative atmosphere, which is supplemented by an artistically designed crib and numerous events. For the little ones there are exciting stories of the Grimm brothers in the fairytale forest.

The Kaufunger Stiftsweihnacht, which takes place from December 13th to 15th, attract artisans from all over Germany. There is a wide range of handmade products that offer perfect Christmas presents. In Fulda, the city center is transformed into a fantastic Christmas city with life -size nutcrackers and a medieval Christmas village that is open from November 29 to December 23rd.

Last but not least, the romantic Christmas market in Rotenburg an der Fulda, which opens its gates from December 5th to 22nd. Surrounded by festively illuminated half -timbered houses, visitors can enjoy the festive atmosphere and discover local delicacies and handmade gifts in around 30 huts. A perfect place for Christmas purchases and contemplative moments!
