Jannik Marquart: 100 days full of challenges in the Main-Kinzig district!

The Main-Kinzig-Kreis has had a new district deputy for 100 days: Jannik Marquart, who took up his office on July 1. His predecessor, Winfried Ottmann, gave him an extensive portfolio, which includes school construction, digitization and youth promotion. On Tuesday, October 8th, Marquart was able to look back on the period in which he has already initiated many initiatives and measures to deal with the challenges in the region.

A central concern in the first days of office was the preparation for possible outbursts of the African swine fever. A first case in the nearby Groß-Gerau district called for quick action. Marquart founded a crisis staff to offer comprehensive support for farmers of the district. "It was crucial to act quickly and determined to prepare our circle in the best possible way and to protect our farmers," says Marquart.

schools and digitization in focus

Chapter by chapter, Marquart is devoted to the school situation in a circle. He attended numerous schools to find out the conditions on site and to talk to the school management. His goal is to attend all around 100 schools in the coming months. This is done as part of the preparation for the pact for the full day, which not only includes structural measures, but also to ensure the implementation of uniform standards in schools. "I have launched a new guideline for the implementation of the pact for the full day," explains the district deputy.

One of the main challenges that Marquart tackles is to ensure the financing of afternoon care. He also presented a concept for large day care with the central offices for childcare. This enables organized support for children by several day care workers in rented rooms and is intended to help improve the care situation.

Another point that was often discussed during his conversations is the shortage of skilled workers. This primarily affects training in the educational field. "As a circle, we can make a decisive contribution to ensuring childcare by increasing children's day care," says Marquart. The planned trainee campus is a personal concern. This initiative is intended to find trainees and learning opportunities under one roof, which would not only strengthen the training positions in the Main-Kinzig district, but also represents direct support for local companies.

business development through digital transformation

An important project that Marquart has created is the "real laboratory Main-Kinzig-Kreis". This is where representatives of the economy, the unions and the municipalities work together to promote the transformation of the business location. In numerous visits to local companies, Marquart is committed to digitization and change in the industry. "We want to offer digital -assisted help to tackle the various challenges that are paired with the changes in the business location," says Marquart.

at the same time, he recently reported progress in fiber optic expansion. The fiber optic network, which is becoming increasingly important, can now also be used by another provider. "We have given the citizens' network again again, since the citizens can choose between several providers from the coming year," says the district deputy about the new development.

Overall, Marquart found opportunities to be in exchange with the mayors and other cooperation partners. "No day is like the other. This is what I guess the most in my office. The opportunity to really serve the circle and bring about changes is a great and fulfilling task for me," he concluded with enthusiasm.
