Lebenshilfe Hessen: Honors and new elections at general assembly

In a gripping meeting in the Marburg Education Center, the Hesse Lebenshilfe-Landesverband Hesse recently held its general assembly. Not only important decisions were made here, but also important honors that affect Lebenshilfe Gießen. The committed state chairman Frank Strotmann was again confirmed in his office, while Patrik Mähling, managing director of Sophie-Scholl-Schulen gGmbH, was newly elected to the board. Stefan Kneisel from Lebenshilfe Frankfurt is now part of the management team.

important awards for inclusion

An emotional highlight of the meeting was the award of the children's and youth facility Burg Nordeck, which was funded with 3,500 euros. This financial support comes from the distribution "33,000 euros each for children and adolescents with disabilities" and will help the facility to further expand their valuable offers for people with support. At a moving moment, Maren Müller-Erichsen and Silvia Brand were also adopted. Müller-Erichsen, who worked for 39 years on the state board, was honored for her outstanding commitment to promote inclusion in Hesse with the appointment as an honorary membership, which was celebrated with long-lasting applause.

Around 50 representatives from 30 member organizations were present to set the course for the future work of the state association. The Lebenshilfe-Standesverband Hessen, founded in Marburg in 1965, campaigned for the interests of people with disabilities and their relatives with over 10,000 members. The goal is an inclusive society in which diversity is understood as normal. Further information can be found on the website www.lebenshilf-hessen.de and www.lebenshilfe-giessen.de.
