Heart for children: Gießen calls for the clothes donation for the needy!
The humanitarian aid organization Global Aid Network (Gain), based in Gießen, has launched a great initiative that specifically appeals to children in order to bring them close to the importance of compassion and solidarity. The campaign entitled "Luminaires and Share" is aimed at children between the ages of three and six in kindergartens and day care centers. The little ones should be encouraged to donate warm children's clothing to help children in need.
As part of the Martins Festival, a Christian holiday that is often associated with parts and charity, the children have the opportunity to develop awareness of the need for help for others in a creative way. The clothing collected is required for children aged three to six years. The donations can be sent to the aid organization camp in Gießen by November 11th or handed in there directly. If you don't make it to Gießen, you have the opportunity to hand over the donated things at over 100 collection points in Germany.
creative accompanying material for children's groups
To support the participants of the campaign, Gain provides free creative material. This material can be downloaded online and includes, among other things, a motivation video that presents the action, as well as self -designed picture books that share the topics and further illustrate compassion. Such materials not only promote the creativity of the children, but also sensitize them to the social challenges with which others are confronted.
After the great interest last year, when 45 children's groups took part in the campaign, the organizers hope that participation is increasing again this year. In the run -up to Christmas, the donated clothes are then sent to the project countries of Gain in Eastern Europe, including Poland, Latvia, Hungary and Ukraine. This is done before the winter to ensure that the required clothing arrives in good time with the recipients.
The humanitarian work of Gain is complex and, in addition to short -term disaster aid, also includes long -term emergency aid and development projects. The aim of the organization is to support people in need so that they do not lose hope of a better future. In 2023, Gain was involved in 42 countries and invested a total of around 23 million euros in various aid projects. This extensive support not only helps acute needs, but also promotes long -term perspectives for many people.
The call to the clothes donation is not only a way for children to actively participate, but also an important step towards promoting empathy and community sense. Children learn through such committed actions that their little actions can make a big difference for others, which is of great importance in today's world. Further information on the "Lights and Sharing" campaign is available on the Gain website.
