Inauguration of the new sports field: students defeat teachers in Gießen!
The open day at the Sophie-Scholl primary school in Gießen offered a perfect opportunity to celebrate both the community and the new sporting opportunities of the school. On this special day, a new sports field was inaugurated, which replaces the previous, less inviting gravel area. With financial support for the federal-state program for the expansion of all-day care in the amount of around 100,000 euros, a modern system was created, which now offers the students the opportunity to play football and basketball under optimal conditions.
The inauguration of the new sports field was carried out by Patrik Mähling, the managing director of Sophie-Scholl-Schulen gGmbH, and Ralph Schüller, a member of the school management team, in a festive ceremony. The musical performances of pupils gave the occasion a special setting and contributed to the ceremonial of the day. However, this was not everything the event had to offer. It was also an excellent opportunity for parents and children to get to know the multitude of activities that the school has to offer.
diverse offers for the whole family
The day was filled with activities that offered both entertainment and education. From information stands to a research workshop to face painting and a flea market, visitors were able to discover and experience a lot of new things. There was particularly great interest in pumpkin carving, creative employment that was very well received by those present.
The activity, which, however, made the greatest tension, was a football game between students and the school staff. In a gripping match, the students were able to win the upper hand. This friendly duel was not only a highlight of the day, but also showed the team spirit and the sense of community at the school.
The event was a great success and reflected the strong community, which shapes the Sophie Scholl schools. In a press release, it was emphasized how important this type of events is to strengthen the cohesion. The Sophie-Scholl schools, which act as a subsidiary of Lebenshilfe Gießen and Lebenshilfe Wetterau, rely on an inclusive approach and reform pedagogical principles that are reflected in the organization of the mixed classes. With around 600 pupils and 200 specialists at the locations in Gießen and Bad Nauheim, the school enables learning that is characterized by mutual respect.
The new sports field is another step in the continuous improvement of school offers. It is not only a sporting enrichment, but also a symbol of the integration of movement and creativity into everyday school life. The Sophie Scholl schools endeavor to make learning not only educational for the children, but also exciting and inviting.
