Parliament meets in Bad Hersfeld: Focus on noise protection for rail project!
On Tuesday, September 24th, the third working group meeting for the parliamentary occupation of the "Fulda-Gerstungen railway project" took place in the Bad Hersfeld town hall. This session was an important step in the political debate about the project because it served the development of concrete proposals for future legislation.
Around 30 different players were present, including representatives from the Bundestag, state parliament, as well as municipalities and counties. In addition, environmental associations and citizens' initiatives were also represented. In group work, they discussed the main concerns of the region that are later to be brought into the German Bundestag.
important topics of the session
"We face big challenges," said the participants. The common goal is to develop solutions that meet the needs of the citizens and are at the same time forward -looking. The next meeting of the working group is planned for the end of 2024.
The Beginnings Forum on the Fulda -Gerstungen railway project is another key mechanism in this complete planning process. It plays an important role from the start by putting the interests of the region to the fore. Various stakeholders are represented in the committee, including municipalities, counties, authorities, citizens' initiatives and various associations that deal with environmental, transport and economic issues.
The forum promotes the factual dialogue by informing Deutsche Bahn (DB) about planning key points and representing the project progress transparently. The participants can express comments that are checked by the DB and should flow into the planning. Such meetings take place regularly and their results are published online in an information on the DB project.
An important aspect of parliamentary occupation is the early and comprehensive information of the German Bundestag by the Federal Ministry of Transport. This measure is intended to ensure more transparency and accelerate formally legal processes in order to avoid delays during the later planning approval process. The DB has also created extensive documents for the preferred variant that contain the effects on people and the environment and corresponding time and cost plans.
Anke Hofmann, Mayor of Bad Hersfeld, has taken on the role of spokeswoman for the working group, the main task of which is to formulate regional core demands that go beyond the legal requirements. These demands must be in direct connection to the preferred variant and fall under the area of responsibility of the federal government. The Bundestag will then decide to what extent they can be financed.
