Flood risk in Rinteln: Which streets are affected?

Rinteln. The Weser that arises from the rivers Werra and Fulda flows through rintel and has currently been achieved. The situation is tense because the water levels in the Weser rise and the first streets are already affected by floods. Hartler Straße in the city center is particularly critical, which is first blocked with a level of about 525 centimeters. Here there are massive restrictions on traffic.

The water levels are alarming: from 486 centimeters, the area is flooded below Woolworth/Brückentor, and from 500 centimeters the Weser steps over the bank. At 520 centimeters, the bus bay on Hartler Strasse runs full, and from 560 centimeters there is a risk of larger floods. The highest water level ever measured in the Weser near Rinteln was 738 centimeters in February 1946. The population is urgently warned to prepare for possible evacuations and road closures.

Current flood warnings

In Lower Saxony, various alarm levels apply to floods. Alarm level 1 signals small floods, while alarm level 3 indicates large floods, which can lead to flooding of larger areas. The flood center is active and informs the population about the rising levels. Warnings are spread over different channels, including radio, television and social media.
