Wiesberger: New challenges and big goals in the 2025 golf season!
Bernd Wiesberger, the Austrian golfer and former number 22 in the world, starts his season with great ambitions. The Bad Tatzmannsdorfer, who has been training in Abu Dhabi since January 9, wants to focus more on the major tournaments in 2025. After a mixed year 2024, in which he took second place at the European Open in Hamburg, but also missed the World Tour final tournament, the 39-year-old is determined to improve his position in the ranking lists. "It starts with four tournaments in the Arab world and with a good start you can definitely lay a good basis," said Wiesberger, whose first competition begins on January 16.
challenges and goals
With currently one place outside the top 200, it is a big challenge for Wiesberger to penetrate the top 100 again. "For the top 100 you have to win two or three times a year and play consistently well. It is still possible," he said. The goal is a top 50 place to be able to automatically start at all major tournaments. Wiesberger has been successful in the Rolex series several times, won two titles in 2019 and the opportunity to demonstrate his skills again. He started his career in 2006 and has celebrated numerous successes since then, including his entry into the Ryder Cup 2021.
Wiesberger also plans to compete in the Austrian Open in Altentann (Salzburg), which are back on the World Tour in 2025. Apart from his tournament successes, it is also a personal challenge to top the past performance and find his consistency. The coming months could be decisive for his career, because they offer the opportunity to fight back to the top of golf.
