Kimmich extension: Bavaria brings light into the contract darkness!
FC Bayern Munich recently reported progress in the contract negotiations with Joshua Kimmich, whose current contract will expire next summer. Max Eberl, the sports director of the record champions, was optimistic about the conversations. In an interview after the goalless draw against Leverkusen, Eberl said: "He wants to stay with Bayern Munich, he would like to win the Champions League. If he didn't want to stay, we would not talk." The negotiations seem to be on the right track, even if Eberl described the situation as "good but not very good", as was reported at the Spobis Conference in Hamburg.
Eberl emphasized that it is not about setting deadlines, but about convincing the players- a strategy that comes from the former Mönchengladbach and RB Leipzig manager. "It is not my job to persuade a player. It is my job to convince him," continued Eberl. So while negotiations with Kimmich are running promising, the situation around Thomas Müller, Leroy Sané and Eric dier remains uncertain, as their contracts also expire in summer. According to Eberl, there have yet been no discussions about any extension.
In the middle of these uncertainties, FC Bayern not only plans to keep Kimmich, but also continues to pursue the contract extension of Jamal Musiala, whose contract has already been extended until 2030, which underlines the ambitions of the association, continued to participate at the top of German and European football. The coming months will be crucial for the association's squad planning, while negotiations with Kimmich and other key players are important for the future of the team.
