Surely live: Learn seniors to be fraudulent one step ahead!
Brackel, Deutschland - an alarm sign for seniors! At a recent breakfast of the DRK local association Brackel/Thieshope, 46 older citizens gathered to be informed about the latest fraud stitches. Chief Criminal Investigator Carsten Bünger from the Harburg police inspection was on site and delivered a gripping lecture under the motto "Live safely!". The message was clear: fraudsters are particularly not targeting the weakest!
Bünger asked the burning question: "Are you more endangered as older citizens than other people?" Many present nodded in agreement and described themselves as "tüdig" and "good -faith". Although older people are less likely to crime, they are often the goal of fraud and theft. The telephone calls of supposed relatives who call unknown numbers are particularly perfidious to lure their victims into the trap. His urgent advice: "Stay skeptical of unknown numbers and not take off!"
prevention and protective measures
The chief criminal commissioner also highlighted the dangers of front door tricks, in which false craftsmen or gardeners request cash. "Be vigilant and call the police immediately when something seems suspiciously!", Bünger appealed. In addition, he gave valuable tips to protect himself from bag and trick thefts: money and valuables should always be worn close to the body, and it is advisable to take little cash with you.
The lecture was not only informative, but also an urgent call for caution. Further training courses for seniors are planned for the future, which will deal with topics such as burglary prevention, internet security and safety in road traffic. A strong feeling of security is the goal - and the education is the first step!
